The Tazewell County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is your local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University.
Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Tazewell County improve their lives.
We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

2022 Wool Pool
In an effort to prepare for marketing, we are collecting Southwest Virginia Wool
to be sent directly to Chargeurs Wool USA Inc.
The Wool is expected to sell for around $0.50 per pound
again provided that it is clean, dry and free of burs, and tags
The Farm Service Agency will have a representative present this year at the wool pool
to sign producers up for the USDA Wool Subsidy which is expected to be around
$0.40 per pound
The Tazewell Wool Clip will be taken up at the Farm Bureau Store at Four-Way in Tazewell
Monday, August 15, 2022 beginning at 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon.
The Wool will be weighed and baled in Grayson County at the Bottomly’s Warehouse
before being shipped to the buyer Chargeurs.
The Tazewell Wool Pool has a long tradition of selling high-quality wool.
Please do your part to maintain that reputation by keeping your wool clean and dry.
Avoid contamination with straw and dirt by keeping the shearing area clean.
It needs to be free of as much debris as possible, NO HAIR SHEEP OR HAIR CROSS,
Black face and White face baled separately at the same price.
